I just really would like to stress something to everyone here.

25 cents.. 1 quarter.. feeds one child.

If you donate $1, you are feeding 4 hungry little bellies.

If you donate only $5... you will be feeding 20.

Twenty children will be able to eat with pocket change.. it makes a HUGE difference.

I know that many of our members are young and in school and it is very difficult to donate money.. but I would like for each of you to take a second and think...

When you go to school, you take $5 lunch money. I know that a school lunch is way less than that... After school you come home, you have spare change in your pocket or puse or book bag... Let's say you have an extra 25 cents per day... you put it in a small jar... you do this every school day (I'm even giving you weekends off) for a month... you will have $5.

You save that $5, and add $5 more next month.. in 2 months, with that $10 you can help feed 40 hungry children.

So Again.. I just want to stress that yes, every quarter, really CAN make a difference!!!

Actually..my lunch at school for a normal fry and chicken sandwich is 6.70 cents with a drink.

=S

But, yes I plan on donating because I want to give back. Good to know though, since I plan on donating two dollars.

Those facts and your financial reasoning hits home Kristy. A lot of us don't have much money and often think a few pence or cents or pounds or dollars isn't going to help anyone. But its suprising how a little amount can go a long way and those few cents and pence can add up and help save lives and give a bit of hope for the future.

The money is food to children that need it and food is more precious than money.

I agree - many are not aware how far a few dollars can go. You can make a difference even if you don't have much and it's a great cause! thumbsup.gif

Cheers!

Thanks for listing this... I know every penny counts Oprah started her Angel program using Pennies.. I have a personal goal for donating. One thing I know Each of us has to follow their heart when it comes to giving.

I would match Drew's donation if I could. However I am not in that place. But, each meal a child receives is priceless.

Yeah, that's very true. Especially giving up pocket change, that's a big one too.

I was so naive to think that a "little bit" couldn't help. I used to be embarassed because I didn't want to give because I never thought I could give enough to make a difference. Now, I will try to give whatever I can whenever I can. I by no means have any kind of money and more bills to choke a pig but thank God I have the room over my head, food on the table and air in my lungs. That is more than most. If I have to give up a cup of Starbucks once or twice a week, I will do that to try to help. It all adds up.

Unless you have a confirmation number from a donation to WFP, then no. The goal is to have donations going strait there, not through makin a purchase. smile.gif

Hi Kristy.

I was wondering, 25 cents can feed 1 child, but how about the paycheck for the employees? Isn't that getting paid for donations, too? I mean, is it 100% sure, that your money will go for a child and not the employees? I know the employees help and all, but I want to be sure, that my $ goes to a child.

My Grandfather has that sort of thoughts about giving to Charity. But I always give. I have donated to the Youth Forums charity of the year and also when I get fuel at the garage I always donate a £1 to the Childrens Hospice Fund. The Woman at the garage said that all the customers they get I am the youngest who gives.

This is a little messege it came with.
"Thank You
On behalf of Drew Barrymore, marie claire and netaya.com,
we would like to thank you for purchasing the fundraising locket supporting
the united nations world food program. Since its inception, WFP has delivered more than 60 million tons of food
too 100 countries, providing not only nourishment but a chance for children to climb out of poverty."

Thats a good question, Phillip, as I am sure many others are wondering the same thing. However, when you donate, over 90% of your donation goes straight to helping the children. The number 93% is sticking in my head, but I will double check my facts today and let you know the exact number. But Given that alone, 90% of all money donated does go straight to the children, ONLY (less than) 10% goes to WPF. But I want to make this perfectly clear, without the people of the WFP there would be NO help and NO feeding program in place.

So think of it this way, if you donate $10, over $9 is going to the kids, ONE DOLLAR of that will go to WFP. And when you think about it, isn't that one dollar worth giving to them in order to keep the program running.

Yes, while we want to be SURE that our hard earned money actually goes to helping a child, we have to realize that even though we send our money to WFP, that the assistance they give the child, by missionaries, and volunteers, they have to get there with the food and supplies in order to do any good.

Which, again if you think about it, isn't that money also helping the children but means of transport, supplies, workers...?

Ok, I hope I answered suffeciently, to where everyone realized that it DOES help the kids, every cent. Again, I will double check my percentages and give you the occial of that.

Any more questions, please feel free to ask smile.gif

A lot of poeple feel that way unfortunatley. However, my earlier post says a lot.. If a small portion of money didn't go to the foundation of the charity, there would be no charity. smile.gif So keep giving!
